30th Anniversary School Fete

SATURDAY 24th NOVEMBER 2012

For several months, an enormous amount of work has been going on behind the scenes in preparation for our 30th Anniversary School Fete held on November 24th. A wonderful organising committee from the Parent & Friends did an amazing job providing an excellent range of stalls, activities and displays.

While the P&F did a truly great job, they couldn't have done it without the support of so many other members of the school and local community. From helping set up, pulling shifts on the various stalls and activities, the clean-upand pack-up at the end, it seemed like almost everyone leant a hand!

It was hard to tell exactly how many people attended on the day but reports back from various food and drink stall vendors indicated that the Fete had been most worthwhile for them. Our official guests all remarked on the success of the event and paid tribute to the organisation of the day and the friendly atmosphere of the occasion. The class stalls were also popular from the lemonade stand, to designer calendars, to captivating containers of slime... it seemed like you could get almost anything you wanted! Well done to the staff and children (and helpers) at these stalls.

It was also very pleasing for me to meet a number of past Board members and staff going right back to the foundation years of the school. They were delighted to look around the school and were able to reflect on the significant changes that have taken place since 1982. It was also terrific to see so many of our old scholars back at the school and enjoying the day.

Requiring almost no direction, Emily and Emerald (both Year 7 students) hosted the official ceremony and did an excellent job. Children in Karen and Megan's class entertained us with their song, 'Special Land' while children from Tammy's class told us of their art related work in Cultural Studies. (I'm sure when you have had a chance to see the Aboriginal Studies inspired murals created by each of the classes you will be genuinely impressed!)

It was truly a big event and most appropriate way to mark our 30th year of operation and I thank everyone who has played a part in the school's history to have us where we are today.
