Welcome to the Preschool
This term we are focusing on children having a strong sense of well being which is all about learning to make choices about health, in particular the importance of nutrition and physical activity.
The key focus is on food, exploring the different food groups and how these help to keep us healthy, food preparation, especially developing independent safe behaviours while cooking toast for their snack.
Sensory exploration of taste has been enthusiastically received by the children. Different citrus fruits introduced the language of sour, bitter and sweet while the taste of different varieties of apples is amazing!
Last week the children invited their families to come along and eat breakfast at preschool. They helped to set up the room, place table clothes on tables, picked flowers and created colourful collages of fruit to decorate the room. Many trips to collect the eggs from the chicken coop for scrambled eggs meant that many enjoyed eggs on toast.
Everyone made this event memorable and thank you to all who could attend.
Physical activity has been integrated with the Olympic flavour and later in the term we're planning a morning of fun and fitness with the other cycle one groups.
