Southern Montessori Middle School offers a unique schooling experience focussed on developing independence and self-discipline in our students, where they take great pride in their work and responsibility for their learning. The curriculum is aligned with both Australian Government and Montessori educational standards, but delivered through practical, real-world activities in a vertically grouped classroom structure, catering to the development of each student.
A Montessori Adolescent program seeks to educate the student by providing the skills necessary to positively contribute to society while working closely with the wider community.
The Karawatha Campus is home base for students as they work with other organisations and community groups. For example, strong local partnerships have already been formed with:
- Noarlunga Library
- Marcellin Technical College
- Christie Downs Community House
- The Australian Science and Maths School
The opportunity to go out into the wider community has certainly extended what we are able to offer in a variety of valuable ways.
The Montessori Adolescent programme provides powerful learning opportunities for Middle Years students, strengthens connections to their community and gives them a sense of belonging as well as a belief in their ability to make a positive difference to their world.
