“Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future.” Dr Montessori
Dear Parents and Caregivers
I am continually inspired by the way Maria Montessori saw reality through a creative and different lens. Recognising children as superior to adults as portrayed in the above quote is quite enlightening.
Welcome to Semester 2, when we look forward to the days lengthening and getting warmer.
What great news we received to start the new term with the arrival of Wendy’s baby, Brodie Allan Humphreys. Wendy and her family are all well and thank community members for flowers, texts and well wishes.
And while we are on the baby news, we have (yet another) expectant staff member. Our Italian and Cycle 1 educator, Maria, is expecting too and will be taking leave from the end of 2017. Congratulations to all!
Welcome to our new and returning families. If you haven’t yet done so, please visit the app store and download ‘School Star’. It’s a communication app that facilitates excellent and timely messaging and alerts, and means we don’t have to print hard copies of school Bulletins. It’s free but you need to have a smart phone. Our records indicate that there are still a number of families who as yet have not made use of this facility.
Term 3 has a number of important events so I urge you to stay tuned as some dates are yet to be set (for reasons beyond our control). Later in the term you will receive an invitation to attend Learning Conversations, which are an excellent opportunity to meet with educators to discuss the learning progress of your child(ren).
A couple of quick reminders: All schools (including adjacent ovals and play areas) are no-smoking zones. Additionally, dog owners need to take great care. Some people are quite scared of dogs – big dogs and small ones too. While owners might know that their dogs are harmless, other people don’t so we ask that you refrain from bringing dogs onto school property. It is worth noting that the soccer association made a decision to ban dogs from Saturday morning soccer games at all venues. Please respect these decisions.
