Dear Parents and Caregivers
Many of you will be aware that our school has a document titled Statement of Strategic Direction 2014-2018. Although the end of 2018 is still quite a way off, we are mindful that the process of creating a new strategic plan is one that will take significant time if it is to be done well. We are committed to being highly consultative and collaborative with all stakeholders in our community. For now, nothing concrete needs to be done, however I invite you to start dreaming … envisioning … what would you like to see at SMS in 2020 and even in 2023? It’s an exciting time in our history and we are confident that we will implement this process in a very authentic manner.
Last Tuesday we had the pleasure of meeting author, Phil Kettle. Phil has some amazing wisdom and life experiences and our students thoroughly enjoyed meeting him. As we move towards Book Week, it was great to spend time with someone who so openly exhibits a very genuine love of writing and of literature.
On Saturday 5th August, eight of our staff attended a full day of professional learning run by Montessori Australia Foundation. The topic was Cosmic Education and it was an absolute pleasure to hear from Peter Erskine, whose knowledge of the Grand Narratives – the Great Stories in Cosmic Education, is inspirational.
