Montessori is not about children ‘achieving the standard’. It is about supporting the developmental needs of every child through freedom, independence and responsibility. Understanding what each child needs is an important starting place. Jamie Rue. 2017 Montessori Refresher Conference.

Dear Parents and Caregivers
At last week’s meeting of the School Board, five policies were reviewed and ratified. These were the Critical Incident Management Policy, Inclusion and Equity Policy, Sexual Harassment Policy, Enrolment Policy and ICT Policy. Shortly these will be uploaded to our website – where you will find many of our other policies.
At the last meeting of our Strategic Planning Committee, one of our group suggested an Ideas Bin be placed in a suitable location so that community members can share ideas about making our school the best it can be. This conversation is continuing but for now, watch this space. We look forward to seeing what ideas are forthcoming as we know there are many creative thinkers out there!
Notices went out recently about Term 4 cricket. Normally, Saturday morning Kanga Cricket at Reynella Oval is very popular among the Year 2 and 3 students, but at this stage we have only received a few return slips for this and for Year 4/5 cricket. Please get in touch immediately if you missed the notice and you would like your child to play.
I can’t wait for the Southern Montessori School Marketplace event which the P&F have planned for the evening of Friday 27th October. If you own a business and you would like to promote it, here’s your chance. Perhaps more importantly, come along to see the wide range of businesses and interests that other members of our community offer. Our choir will provide some background singing and it is sure to be an enjoyable gathering. Standby for more details and get in touch with us if you want a stall.
I would like to remind community members that in line with our Enrolment Agreement, families intending to leave our school are required to give one term’s notice in order to be refunded the Student Enrolment Deposit.
Another very busy term comes to an end. Thank you to all of our families for supporting us in moving forward. There is a great sense of service within this community and it is priceless – there are many quiet achievers who go about their tasks without fuss or fanfare. Wishing all of you good times over the coming fortnight and hoping that you can find some quality family time.
