Climate Change Ready Project – Cycle 2
Some of the students from Cycle 2 took up the challenge to be involved in the Climate Change Ready Project. They were asked to choose an issue of concern to them and devise a plan of action for how best to adapt and be ‘Climate Change Ready.’
Issues explored included growing our own food, using eco-friendly building materials, recycling, providing water sources for birds and lizards, providing nest boxes to give shelter and safety to birds in extreme weather conditions, solar panels for school and home, power hour at home and installing a rainwater tank at school to water the plants and flush the student toilets.
It was inspiring to see creative ideas, collaboration and commitment demonstrated by these students. With support from the school and NRM (Natural Resource Management Board) we hope to see some of these projects come to fruition.
