Cycle 2 Camp
Cycle 2 Camp
On Monday 30th October, the Cycle 2 children headed off to Aldinga for their overnight camp. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by our camp facilitators, Cathy, Doug and Will, who had planned 2 days of wonderful activities. Our first day involved a walk through the Aldinga scrub, where many children demonstrated their excellent kangaroo spotting skills. We then headed down to the beach for a shallow reef walk which allowed us to explore and discover some small sea creatures hiding and camouflaging amongst the rocks. In small groups, the children also took part in some team building games that required them to problem solve and consider the best ways to work collaboratively to successfully achieve the end goal. The night time activities were a blast of fun and saw the children competing in a friendly dance competition, and designing and creating outfits out of recycled newspaper. We certainly had some energetic groovers and some creative fashionistas!
The second day saw the children a little quieter and slow moving (I wonder why!!). Even so, they all dug deep to find some energy to take part in a food chain game that involved them following clues on information charts spread around the camp, in order for them to follow and complete a food chain accurately. A nature artwork class saw the children collecting various objects from the local area and creating a design that was inspired by their time at camp, and some further team building activities continued to build on their group skills and communication from the previous day.
Overall, camp was a huge success and enjoyed by all!
