Cycle 3 Climate Change Project
The Cycle 3 students are working on a climate change project. Our group is investigating use of water in food products. In the future it will be hotter and drier and there will be less rain, so therefore less water.
We found out that 25,000 L of water is used to produce the food to feed an average family of 4 each day.
Half of the water you use in a day is to produce the food you eat.
Examples of the amount of water used to produce different foods (per kg):
Beef: 2497.5 L
Chicken: 865.8 L
Chocolate: 732.6 L
Pork: 1065.6 L
Wine: 176.12 L
Pistachio: 136.9 L
We have made a recipe book filled with recipes that are made with food that use less water to produce them. This book will be available to families soon.
Ways your family can use less water is eat less meat and please use your water wisely.
